Tie Dye for a Cause - Sherri O Designs

Tie Dye for a Cause

On June 3, 2023 I will be participating in the Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk. It's a 16-18 mile dusk to dawn fundraising walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

On April 19 of 2006, I lost my 16 year old daughter to suicide. Since that terribly dark day, I've participated in the overnight walk 9 times, raising more than $12000 for AFSP.

This year, to help raise money for this important cause, I've created some special tie dye pieces as donation incentives. Here's how it works...

  1. Visit https://www.theovernight.org/participant/sherrio to make your donation directly to AFSP.
  2. Click "DONATE" and it will display a list of the available incentives and the required donation amount. Unfortunately, if you choose the "Donate an amount of your choice" link, it will not let you choose an incentive. If you want to donate MORE than the amount required for your preferred incentive, you will have to do it as 2 separate donations.
  3. Enter the required information. Don't forget to include your shipping address if you've chosen an incentive. Shipping within the US is on me.

The donation page does not have room for large images or detailed information about the incentives, so you will find all that info here.

Short sleeve T-shirts in sizes ranging from Medium to 3X are available for a $40 donation. That might seem like a lot for a t-shirt, but the entire amount goes to AFSP. I'm donating the blank t-shirts, dye, shipping costs, and a whole lot of time. These are soft, 100% cotton medium-weight Bella+Canvas tees in unisex sizes. Photos are of the actual shirt you will receive.

I have one 2X long sleeve Port & Co T-shirt in Shades of Purple. It's available for a $50 donation...

These 100% cotton fabric panels are available for a $50 donation. The smooth, sturdy muslin has simple serged edges. Tack it up on the wall as a colorful tapestry, stretch it like a canvas or frame it for a more formal look, or use it as table topper or curtain. If you are the crafty sort, these would be stunning as the central panel in a quilt or sewn into a throw pillow cover.

The following lightweight fabric panels were supposed to be 100% cotton, but judging by the way they took the dye, I suspect they are a cotton/poly blend. They look very cool, but they are somewhat muted as compared to the 100% cotton. Rest assured, the dye is permanent. They have been thoroughly washed, and the colors won't fade. Like the previous, they have simple serged edges. The two smaller pieces are each available for a $30 donation and the extra large 35" x 69" Sunflower tapestry is available for a $50 donation.

Donations can be made anytime before June 3rd, but the incentives are only available while they last. There is only one of each item available. All pieces will be shipped as a USPS first class package within a few days of your donation. Thanks so much for helping me raise money for this important cause that is so dear to my heart!
