Zara Wrap in Magenta and Purple

325.00

A popular Uzbek name meaning radiant, this aptly named wrap is sure to get you noticed, whatever you wear it with.  It was fashioned from lustrous margilan silk gauze, superfine merino wool, and shiny bamboo and silk fibers. All were custom dyed with professional wash-fast dyes and delicately layered to create the unique textures and patterns.

Margilan silk is made in the small Uzbek town of the same name.  The open weave and unparalleled softness lend this luxurious wrap a beautiful drape and a lacy texture.  The piece measures a generous 79" long by 17" wide (201 cm by 43 cm).

Felting is a time- and labor-intensive process.  Wool fibers are laid out in fine layers, wetted with warm soapy water, and gently agitated until the fibers tangle together.  In the case of NUNO FELTING, the fibers work their way through silk or other fabric.  Continued agitation causes the fibers to shrink down, puckering the silk and forming a sturdy and durable fabric.  The scarf can be hand washed in lukewarm water with a mild detergent.  After rinsing, excess water can be squeezed from the scarf by wrapping it in a clean towel.  Then hang or dry flat and press with a warm iron.
